This chapter's content is designed to help keep you out of trouble throughout the upcoming hacking chapters. These rules and tips should get you started safely. Always document everything, and at the very least, you can always restore the original PostNuke code should anything go wrong.

When you're truly stumped with a hack, use the forums (forums.postnuke.com). Try searching for your hack first; it might already be documented for you in the forums.

If you can't find it through a search, try starting a new thread in the appropriate forum area. Clearly post your intent and code examples and the community can lend you a hand. After you've accomplished your hack, post your documentation in the Tutorials and Solutions forum.
