23.2 Table of Contents for a Configuration Management Plan

A configuration management plan must be produced according to the context where it will be used. The plan should adhere to the rules for unique identification of documents. Even if the plan is not in itself to be placed under configuration management, provide all the metadata for a configuration item for the plan: name , version, status, date, author, and so on.

An example of a table of contents for a configuration management plan is provided below. It may be expedient to structure a plan differently from what is shown here. The important thing is to consider all sections and choose those that are relevant.
