Enhancing master data is similar to enhancing transaction data. One simple way to extend master data content in the SAP R/3 OLTP side is to define a new view and assign that view to the InfoObject transfer structure using the following steps for SAP BW 1.2B:

1. Copy or change the master data extraction view using transaction SE11. For example, copy a customer view BIW_KNA1 to BIW_KNA5. Here you define additional fields in a new view.

2. Change the structure in table RODCHABAS using transaction SE16. Select a master data object, such as 0CUSTOMER, and change its default BIW_KNA1 view with BIW_KNA5.

3. Using transaction SE38, execute program RSAO003 to assign new fields to the InfoObject.

4. Add this new InfoObject in the InfoSource so the receiving SAP BW knows the new metadata.

5. Go back to SAP BW and upload new metadata, as shown in Figure 13-5.
