Navigating in the Journal and in Tasks


The Journal and Tasks have their own shortcuts for navigating from item to item and for selecting items.

Shortcuts for Navigating in the Journal and in Tasks

Select the previous item

[ ]

This shortcut works in the Journal, not in Tasks.

Add adjacent items to the selection

[Shift]-[ ], [Shift]-[ ]

These shortcuts work in the Journal.

Add nonadjacent items to the selection

[Ctrl]-[ ]-[Spacebar], [Ctrl]-[ ]-[Spacebar]

These shortcuts work in the Journal. Press [Ctrl] and the appropriate arrow key to move the selection outline to the item you want to add to the selection, and then press [Spacebar] to select the item. You can then manipulate all the selected items at once.

Open the selected items

[Enter]

This shortcut works in the Journal.

Move up one screen

[PageUp]

Move down one screen

[PageDown]

Select the first item in the group or the first ungrouped item on the timeline

[Home]

Select the last item in the group or the last ungrouped item on the timeline

[End]

Expand the selected group

[Enter], [ ]

Because [Enter] acts as a toggle for expanding and collapsing a group, most people find it easier than using and .

Collapse the selected group

[Enter], [ ]

Move the focus from the upper time scale to the lower time scale

[Enter]

When the focus is on the upper time scale, press [Tab] to move the focus to the lower time scale. When the focus is on the lower time scale, press [Tab] to move the focus to the first on-screen group or on-screen item.

Move the focus from the lower time scale to the upper time scale

[Shift]-[Tab]
