This section details the keyboard shortcuts that InDesign offers for navigating among windows , zooming the view, displaying and hiding on-screen items and palettes, using Overprint Preview and the Separations Preview palette, and changing display performance.

The following keyboard shortcuts let you quickly activate, display, and hide the palettes you need. When a palette has only one tab, the keyboard shortcut acts as a toggle: if the palette is displayed, pressing the keyboard shortcut hides the palette; and if the palette is hidden, pressing the keyboard shortcut displays it. When a palette has multiple tabs, pressing the keyboard shortcut:
Displays the palette if it s hidden
Activates the palette if it s displayed but one of the other tabs is active
Hides the palette if it s displayed and active

Caution | On Mac OS X version 10.3 (Panther), the [F9], [F10], and [F11] keyboard shortcuts are assigned to the Expos feature by default. Pressing [Shift] with one of these shortcuts (for example, [Shift]-[F9]) slows down the effect of the Expos animation. So you can t use any of these keyboard shortcuts ”[F9], [Shift]-[F9], [F10], [Shift]-[F10], [F11], or [Shift]-[F11] ”in InDesign unless you reassign the Expos keyboard shortcuts. To reassign them, open System Preferences and work on the Expos sheet. |
