Update Agent

Enable Automatic Update Agent

  • Default Value: OFF

  • Range: ON, OFF

  • Description: Enables/disables the Novell Automatic Update Agent on this workstation. If enabled, the Agent loads during the login process.

Update Agent Launch Interval (Days)

  • Default Value: 7 (days)

  • Range: 0999 days

  • Description: If the Update Agent is enabled, specify the interval at which the agent will check for an updated client. Setting a value of 0 effectively disables the Update Agent.

Update Location

  • Default Value: OFF

  • Range: ON, OFF

  • Description: Enabling Update Location lets you specify a specific path to the new client files. If more than one of the three Update Sources is enabled, Update Location is the first in order of precedence. Specify the location of the new client files in the associated dialog box. This can be a UNC path , a mapped drive, or a URL.

Previous Install Location

  • Default Value: OFF

  • Range: ON, OFF

  • Description: Enabling Previous Install Location instructs the Update Agent to look for updated client files at the same location from which the Novell client was previously installed. If more than one of the three Update Sources is enabled, Previous Install Location is the second in order of precedence. This path is not editable.

Unattend File

  • Default Value: N/A

  • Range: N/A

  • Description: Specifies the name of the Unattend file that should be used with the client update. The Unattend file must reside in the same location specified by the Update Location or the Previous Install Location. Unattend files will not be used with the Novell Client Update Web Site.

Suppress Update Prompt

  • Default Value: OFF

  • Range: ON, OFF

  • Description: Enabling this option prevents the Update Agent from querying the user before the client update routine starts. It will begin automatically without user intervention.

Support Pack Update

  • Default Value: OFF

  • Range: ON, OFF

  • Description: Enabling this option lets the Update Agent go directly to a support pack subdirectory and review/update only the support pack files rather than having to review every client file. To do this, the support pack directory, named \SP , must be in the location specified by the Update Location or Previous Install Location.

Administrator Rights

  • Default Value: ON

  • Range: ON, OFF

  • Description: If the user who logs in to the workstation does not have administrative rights to the workstation, check this box to grant administrative rights to the Update Agent during a client upgrade. Administrative rights are required during the client upgrade routine.
