Advanced Login Tab

Initial Novell Login

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Enables/disables the Novell client login screen during workstation startup. If disabled, users will have to launch the login manually after authenticating to the workstation.

NMAS Authentication

The NMAS client, which is installed as part of the default installation of the Novell client, must be installed for NMAS authentication to appear.

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Enables/disables the use of NMAS authentication during the login. If NMAS is not being used on the network, NMAS can cause login delays.

OEM Extended ASCII Password

  • Default Value: 0 (Unchecked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Enables/disables the use of OEM extended ASCII characters in a password. OEM extended ASCII characters are already supported through the Unicode code pages in the Novell client, so this option should be needed only rarely with older software that requires the OEM ASCII codes.

Default Policy Support

  • Default Value: 0 (Unchecked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: If enabled, the Novell client will attempt to read SYS:PUBLIC\CONFIG.POL on the authentication server after a user has successfully authenticated.

Policy Path and Filename

  • Default Value: \System32

  • Range: N/A

  • Description: If the Default Policy Support is disabled, you can specify the path to the Configuration Policy file. The specified path must be provided in UNC format and include the server name , volume/share, directory, and filename. For example, \\serv1\sys\policies\policy.cfg .

Location List

  • Default Value: 0 (Unchecked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Specifies whether the Location list in the Login dialog box is enabled. The list shows Location Profiles that have been configured on this workstation and allows the user to select one for login. (Location Profiles store many login settings such as Preferred Server, Tree, and Context.) After the initial installation, there is only one Location Profile enabledcalled the Default Location Profile. However additional Location Profiles can be configured manually or by using ZENWorks.

Advanced Button

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Specifies whether the Advanced button on the Login dialog box is enabled. This button leads to various tabs that help you to specify advanced login parameters.

Variables Button

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Specifies whether the Variables button in the Login dialog box is enabled. The button allows you to define the %2 , %3 , %4 , and %5 login script variables used when the user logs in.

Clear Connections

  • Default Value: 0 (Unchecked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Specifies whether the Clear Connections check box appears in the Login dialog box. The check box allows you to clear all previous connections when you create a new connection to the network (clears printer captures, drive mappings, and network drive search path entries from the Environment Search PATH ).

Workstation Only (Windows 2000/XP Only)

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Check this box if you want the Workstation Only check box to be available when users log in. This determines whether the option is available; it does not set the value of the Workstation Only setting. It only allows the user to see the check box and change it.

Suppress Single Sign-On for this Login (Windows 2000/XP only)

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Check this box if you want the Suppress Single Sign-On for This Login check box to be available when users log in. Even if selected, this check box will be available only if single sign-on has been enabled on the Single Sign-On tab.

Tree (Windows 2000/XP Only)

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Enables/disables the Tree dialog box that allows users to specify an eDirectory tree other than the default.

Tree Button (Windows 2000/XP Only)

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Enables/disables the Tree button that allows users to select a tree from the list of available trees on the network.

Context (Windows 2000/XP Only)

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Enables/disables the Context dialog box that allows users to specify an eDirectory tree other than the default.

Context Button (Windows 2000/XP Only)

  • Default Value: 1 (Checked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Enables/disables the Context button that allows users to browse to a specific context with the selected tree.

Force Logoff Button (Windows 2000/XP Only)

  • Default Value: 0 (Unchecked)

  • Range: 0 = Unchecked, 1 = Checked

  • Description: Check this box if you want the Force Logoff button to be available from the Login page. Force Logoff lets you terminate an open Novell client session even if the workstation is locked. Any unsaved work may be lost if this is done.

Welcome Screen Bitmap Filename (Windows 2000/XP Only)

  • Default Value: NWELCOME.BMP

  • Range: N/A (Any valid string is allowed)

  • Description: Specifies the bitmap that appears on the welcome screen when you start Windows 2000/XP. You can specify any bitmap located in the \WINNT directory.

Welcome Screen Caption (Windows 2000/XP Only)

  • Default Value: Begin Login

  • Range: N/A (Any valid string is allowed)

  • Description: Specifies the text that appears in the header on the welcome screen that appears when you start Windows 2000/XP.
