Use Portfolio Window

The Portfolio window is your main management tool for your investments. You can use it to see the overall value of your investments at a glance; sort your investments in different ways; see how much your investments are worth today, or at anytime in the past; and even track the prices of securities that you don't yet own, but wish to keep an eye on. The Portfolio window is an important tool for analyzing how well your investment strategy is working.

To view your Portfolio on Windows, click to select the investment account in the Account Bar, then click the Summary tab. In the default Value view, you'll see a list of the securities held in the account, along with the current price, the amount of shares owned, gains and losses, and so forth.

To see the performance of your portfolio, choose either Recent performance or Historic performance from the Show menu. The view changes to show you how well the investments have been doing.

You can also see a graph of your investment performance; click the Performance & Analysis tab of the Portfolio account.

On the Mac, click the Investing tab on the toolbar, then click the Portfolio button. The Portfolio window appears.

To change the Portfolio view, you can change the Group by pop-up menu. You can sort the contents of the window by Account (which lets you see the securities contained in multiple investment accounts); Security (which consolidates all of your securities in an alphabetical list view); Type (which shows the securities sorted by type, such as Bond, Mutual Fund, and Stock); or Asset Class (this sorts the securities by how large the companies or funds are).
