  • Troubleshooting Client Connectivity

In a Small Business Server network environment, the Microsoft Exchange Server is the central repository for all company email, contacts, and calendar information. But the employees needing access to that information don't interact directly with the Exchange server itself. Rather, they use various clients that communicate with the Exchange server on their behalf, similar to the way a web browser interacts with data stored on a web server.

This chapter discusses the four Exchange clients available inside and outside the SBS network, namely: Outlook, Outlook Web Access (OWA), Outlook Mobile Access (OMA), and ActiveSync. This chapter also covers available methods for connecting these clients to the Exchange server, and finally, troubleshoots connectivity issues. For information on the Mac Exchange client, Entourage, see Chapter 17, "Integrating the Macintosh into a Small Business Server 2003 Environment."
