25 Summarize Comments in a PDF

Acrobat provides numerous graphical stamps that you can add to a document in much the same way you would rubberstamp a physical document. These stamps include everything from Void and Confidential to Sign Here , and they can include dynamic approval date and time information. Using these stamps makes it easier than ever to incorporate Acrobat into your business processes or document review workflow.

1.
Open a Review Document

Under the File menu, select the Open command to locate and open the PDF document to be reviewed.

NOTE

You can create your own personal stamp in Acrobat. From the Tools menu, select Commenting, Stamps, Create Custom Stamps .

This opens the Select Image for Custom Stamp dialog box. Click the Browse button to locate and open the file you want to use for the stamp. You can create a stamp image from a large variety of supported file formats, such as PDF, JPEG, bitmap, Adobe Illustrator (AI), Adobe Photoshop (PSD), and Autodesk AutoCAD (DWT, DWG). After you have selected the image or document, Acrobat displays it in the Sample window box. Click the OK button to go to the Create Custom Stamp dialog box. You can then enter the name of your new stamp and select an existing category or create a new category for your new stamp.

2.
Select a Stamp

From the Comments menu, select Commenting Tools , Stamps . Then, from the Dynamic, Sign Here , and Standard Business categories submenu, select the stamp you want to place in the PDF document.

The Standard Business category contains standard business stamps, such as Draft, Final , and Confidential . The Sign Here category contains typical contract callouts such as Sign Here, Accepted , and Rejected . The Dynamic category uses several of the stamps from the Standard Business category but inserts the username and current date and time.

3.
Apply a Stamp

Selecting a stamp from the menu changes your cursor to a translucent version of the stamp. With this cursor, click in your document where you want the stamp to be placed.

4.
Add Comments

If you want to add comments to the stamp, double-click the stamp to open the stamp's pop-up comment window. Type your comments into the window and click the window's close box when you are done.

TIP

If you find yourself using the Stamp tools on a regular basis, you can open the Stamps Palette window for quick and easy access to the stamps. From the Comments menu, select Commenting Tools, Stamp Tool, Show Stamp Palette . After the Stamps palette window is open, click and drag the appropriate stamp onto your document.
