One important factor contributing to the strength of Silicon Valley as a region is the emergence of interconnected formal and informal organizations that are part of the vibrant nonprofit sector. While governments may have a commanding role in providing organizational linkages in many other regions of the world, the dynamic nonprofit or non-government organization (NGO) sector in the United States, and particularly in Silicon Valley, provides support to connect people and businesses in a vibrant network, having great flexibility to adapt to innovation and changing economic trends.
