Things to Remember

If you are feeling unsure about your title creation skills, I highly recommend loading some templates and modifying them to suit your needs. To create a simple new look, I typically load a lower-third template, then change the shape and color of the object, as well as the text's size and font. If I am happy with the results, I save the modified template as a new custom template.

If you want a different font for each letter in a word, for example, simply select each letter in turn, changing the font each time. The same goes for adjusting color, strokes, and shadows. With this in mind, you can create a diverse selection of titles and explore some wacky, but cool options.

As you make your adjustments, remember that with text you can make every property adjustment to either individual characters or entire text selections.

Ready to take your titling skills a step further? See Chapter 15, "Advanced Titling: Styles and Templates," to learn how to create custom title styles and templates that you can use over and over again for future projects.
