Now you ll make a few changes to the Flamingo Hotel and save the multiple versions as layer comps. Here are the steps:
Choose Window ’ Layer Comps. The Layer Comps palette appears (see Figure H8.15).

Choose Layers ’ New ’ Layer Comp, or click the New Layer Comp icon at the bottom of the palette. The New Layer Comp dialog box appears (see Figure H8.16).

Name the comp duckless .
In the HO8 folder on the CD, in the MoreBirds subfolder, open the file duck.psd .
Select the duck with the Magnetic Lasso tool. Tweak the selection with the Lasso tool.
Choose the Move tool. Drag the selection and its contents and place it on the lower-right corner of the Flamingo Hotel image. Name the new layer duck .
Choose Edit ’ Transform ’ Flip Horizontal.
Click the New Layer Comp icon and name the comp duck .
Target the Background. Choose Layer ’ New Adjustment Layer ’ Hue Saturation.
In the dialog box, adjust the Hue slider to “59 and the Saturation to “79 to shift the hotel s color to a desaturated pink.
Click the New Layer Comp icon. Name the layer comp HueSat . Your Layer Comps palette should look like Figure H8.17.

Click the arrows at the bottom of the Layer Comps palette to cycle through the Layer Comps list. In the image window, the image will change to display the configuration of the layers in each comp.
A script is a sequence of commands that tell Photoshop to perform a set of specified operations. Scripts can automatically perform repetitive tasks . You will run a script to save your Layer Comps to separate files:
Choose File ’ Scripts ’ Layer Comps to Files.
From the Dialog box (Figure FH8.18) type a name, choose a format, and browse a location for the new documents.

As the script is running, the new documents appear on the desktop as separate files, and are then exported to the selected location.
