Only Room for So Much

Because XP is already a 1.5-GB download and the number of lines of code number in the tens of millions, Microsoft has had to compromise on the quality of its built-in tools. If the company added top-of-the-line utilities it would have to charge a lot more and the operating system would become bloated, which is why almost all of the tools are rather basic versions licensed from other software developers. While Microsoft should be applauded for attempting to satisfy the user community by building so many tools into its operating system, these tools are mainly of value to mobile and home office users. When it comes to systems and network management though, most users are better served by proven third-party utilities that are specifically designed with the enterprise in mind.
