Software, Not Hardware

 < Day Day Up >

To further define this work, it takes a software approach and gives little attention to the hardware maintenance side (again, hardware is aptly covered in many other places, as listed in the bibliography section in Appendix B). I may reference some of these books but do not try to replace them. That said, the book does cover basic definitions and explanations of hard drive hardware in more than enough detail for the purposes of this text. In fact, an entire chapter is devoted to hard drive hardware and the different types available. In summary, then, this book has been written for those who want to know more about how to maintain their disks in optimum health, monitor them, and get the best out of them. It also highlights how IT managers can improve the efficiency of hard drives in the enterprise and how to manage them better.
