B.5 Chapter 5 Review

 < Day Day Up >

  1. Why is the Software User Manual (SUM) written?

It is written as a fundamental learning tool for the project deliverable.

  2. Who uses the Software Installation Manual (SIM)?

The SIM is used by systems administrators and gives step-by-step instructions for installing the application.

  3. Why should training manuals be standardized?

In a large organization with many large systems, it is a huge cost consideration to train people. Consistency across training programs helps reduce costs and leverage efficiencies across applications.

  4. What is an Operations and Maintenance Guide (OMG)?

The OMG describes the technical operation and maintenance specifications for the finished product.

  5. Test cases should be constructed in accordance with which standard?

ANSI/IEEE Standard 829-1983 for Software Test Documentation

  6. What is the purpose of a test plan?

The purpose of the test plan is to provide an overview of the testing effort needed for the product delivery to be successful.

  7. What is a master test plan?

It is a centralized repository to be used for all documentation relating to the testing effort.

  8. What is the Test Summary Report used for?

This is an explanation of the testing process, environment, results, and so on.

  9. Name four to six major areas that a test plan should contain.

    1. Stress Test Plans

    2. Integration Test Plans

    3. Software Test Plan’s

    4. Product Assurance Tests

    5. User Acceptance Tests

    6. MIS/Outside Certification Plans

  10. What is a Software Test Plan (STP)?

The STP describes the software test approach, identifies the tests to be performed for each module, and provides detailed schedules for test activities. It ensures correctness and accuracy of the program’s internal logic and validates interfaces among the various modules of the program.

  11. What is the purpose of the Product Assurance Test (PAT)?

The PAT verifies that the total system solution performs as expected. This test is performed by executing a series of test cases that have been specifically constructed to demonstrate to the users that the system works properly in a production environment.

  12. What is the purpose of the User Acceptance Test (UAT)?

The UAT verifies the total system solution and ensures that it satisfies the original business requirements.

  13. Who completes the Functional Certification Letter (FCL)?

The FCL is a letter from the customer or the functional business representative that documents satisfaction or areas of concern with the functional performance of the system.
