A high-level object-oriented programming language similar to C++ from Sun Microsystems designed primarily for writing software to leave on websites which is often downloadable over the Internet. Java is basically a new virtual machine and interpretive dynamic language and environment.
Java Applet –
Small Java applications that can be downloaded from a web server and run on a user’s PC by a Java-compatible web browser.
Java Script –
An open source scripting language developed by Netscape (independent of Sun’s Java) that enables interactive websites by interacting with HTML source code.
JDBC (Java DataBase Connectivity) –
A Java API that enables Java programs to execute SQL statements similar to ODBC.
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) also JPG –
A compression technique used in editing still images, color faxes, desktop publishing, graphic arts and medical imaging. Although it can reduce image files to approximately 5% of their normal size, some detail is lost in the compression.

An inventory management system whereby products arrive at the business’ warehouse just in time to ship.
