Most people tend to ignore the importance of cabling and wiring. Don't be among that group.

Here's the author's best advice on antenna cabling and connectors.

The most important advice is to check with the manufacturer of the WLAN system hardware before adding new cables and connectors!

Connect antenna directly to the radio to eliminate cables whenever possible. There will be instances, though, where you will need to use antenna cabling, plan the location of your radio to minimize the length of antenna cable needed.

To help make your WLAN a success, remember that when using antenna cable—go shorter and fatter. As the length of your cable increases compensate by using lower loss (thicker) cable.

Next, if possible purchase APs with Power over Ethernet capabilities.

Last but not least, use lightning arrestors.
