Summary

This chapter provided numerous examples of OSPF configuration tasks that are similar to those you may encounter while taking your JNCIP lab examination. You should now feel comfortable with the commands needed to configure and validate a multi-area OSPF network using a mixture of transit, stub, and NSSA area types. You should also be able to use area-range statements to filter and summarize network summaries and external routes in a NSSA. OSPF authentication options were also demonstrated, as was the use of protocol tracing to diagnose operational problems caused by incorrect or incompatible configurations.

The use of JUNOS software policy to effect route redistribution, tagging, and metric manipulation was also demonstrated along with the operational commands that can be used to determine the operational status of your OSPF IGP. The following case study is designed to review critical OSPF configuration tasks in a configuration scenario designed to simulate the JNCIP testing environment.
