RADIUS authentication

A form of authentication that allows the RADIUS client to authenticate against a RADIUS server and that has become the standard for integrating various vendors’ products. RADIUS is typically used by Routing and Remote Access Services (RRAS) to authenticate, authorize, and audit logon requests in a standard way. Microsoft calls its RADIUS server Internet Authentication Service (IAS), and it can be configured either as an end point for the RADIUS client or to forward authentication, authorization, and accounting traffic to another RADIUS server.

realm trust

A trust between a Windows Server 2003 domain and a non-Windows Kerberos realm. A realm trust can be either transitive or nontransitive and can go in one or both directions.

recommended security policies

Policies that may be necessary for only part of an organization. A division or department may choose to implement an optional security practice if they find it cost effective or determine that it applies to their assets.

Remote Assistance

This the same technology as Remote Desktop for Administration, but it was designed to allow someone to connect to a Windows computer to provide assistance. When a Remote Assistance session is established, both users will see the same screen and can chat with each other through the Remote Assistance chat program.

Remote Desktop for Administration

Remote Desktop for short, this provides a graphical user interface to remote computers over a local area network (LAN) and wide area networks (WANs).

Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)

The protocol used by Terminal Services and the Remote Desktop Client.

remote management plan

The plan used to decide how to manage a network remotely, what tools should be used, and what servers should be managed.

root CA

This is the ultimate CA in an organization. It is responsible for signing all other subordinate CA certificates. The root CA is the only server role that trusts itself by signing its own certificate and issuing this root certificate to itself.
