Configuration in which the screened subnet is placed between two firewalls. The screened subnet is connected through a firewall to the Internet on one end and connected through another firewall to the internal network on the opposite end.

basic authentication

Authentication scheme that allows clients to authenticate with the domain or local server using a username and password. The main problem with basic authentication is that it sends the passwords over the network in the clear text.
