Global Address List. A complete list of all of the mail-enabled objects-users, groups, contacts, and visible public folders found in an Exchange organization.
An index containing every AD object within the forest. A full set of attributes is maintained for objects from the domain where the GC is situated, together with a reduced set of attributes (to limit replication activity) for objects from other domains. Exchange uses the GC as the source of the GAL and to make decisions on how best to route messages.
Group Policy Object. Group policies allow administrators to define settings for groups of users and computers to simplify management.
Globally Unique Identifier. A very large (128-bit) number used to identify objects within the AD and for other purposes.
