Chapter Summary

In this chapter, you learned a number of techniques for incorporating error handling into DTS packages. You added batch control to your packages to enable you to differentiate between executions of the data movement application. You added success and error logging steps into the packages, which record the batch ID value with each log entry into an audit table. Finally, you captured information about the number of rows transformed and the number of rows with errors for each step in each package that modified rows. These techniques enable you to capture additional error information and quickly determine whether you need to review the error logs in detail for any particular execution of the data movement application.
