Making Your Pages Dynamic

[ LiB ]

"Dynamic," in the sense that we're using the term , means something that's on the move. Most of the time, Web pages are static; the text and the images are just sitting there. But with just a little effort, you can make things move and pop to create an eye-catching arrangement that will help keep your visitors coming back.

Create an Interactive Button

One of the most popular dynamic HTML effects is the implementation of the interactive button, also known as the hover button . It gets this name from the fact that when you hover the mouse cursor over the button, something will happen. It's a neat effect, that takes a bit of work to code in DHTML unless you have Office FrontPage 2003 do all of the hard work for you!

NOTE

Choose a color that will stand out from the color of the button for the hovered and pressed color. Since the button color in this example is dark, I chose lighter shades for these two colors.

Animate Page Elements

Not only create can you create interactive buttons , but you can also create text that will change color or be highlighted just by rolling the mouse over that passage. Before you begin, use the steps you learned in Chapter 16, "Customize Office FrontPage 2003," to display the DHTML Effects toolbar.
