Adding Effects to a Track During Playback

 <  Day Day Up  >

Some vocalists like to hear effects while they are recording, but they don't want that effect recorded to the track. Recording an effect to a track is called printing. The VS-1680 makes it easy to record a track without printing an effect, while allowing the vocalist to hear the effect in his headphones at the same time. Use the following steps to add an effect to track 1 that the vocalist will hear, but that will not be printed to the track:

1.
Hold SHIFT F3 (FXA) F1 (FX1) F2 (Select).

2.
Use the jogwheel to scroll to P060: Reverb.

3.
Press F4 (Exec).

4.
Route the selected effect's return to the destination track.

5.
Press the TRACK SELECT button for the channel onto which the vocal is being recorded.

6.
Press PAGE until you see FX1 above F1. Press F1.

7.
Use the jogwheel to change the setting from OFF to PST.

8.
Use the down cursor to select the reverb send amount.

9.
Use the jogwheel to change the reverb send amount from 100 to the desired level.

When the vocalist sings, he will hear reverb on his voice, but the reverb will not be recorded to the track.
