Naming the Song

 <  Day Day Up  >

You cannot name a song when you create it. New songs are automatically named "Init Song xxx," where "xxx" is a sequentially assigned number. Before you begin recording, I'd recommend that you rename the song to something more meaningful. To rename the song, press the SONG button multiple times until you see "SNG Song Name /Prtct?" and then press the YES button. This song option allows you to rename songs and to protect/ unprotect songs. The display will show the current song name. Use the and CURSOR buttons to move the cursor, and use the jogwheel to change the characters . When using the jogwheel, holding down the SHIFT button will allow you to move in 10-character increments .

When you are done renaming the song, simply press the PLAYDISPLAY per convention button and then manually save the song (SHIFT + ZERO). If you instead press the parameter button, the VS assumes you want to toggle the protection mode of the song. Since this song is brand new and unprotected , the display will show "SNG ChangePrtct On?" If you dont want to protect the song, press the NO button. If you really do want to protect the song, press the YES button. The VS will save the song and mark it as protected, and you won't be able to record or edit any tracks. If you accidentally protected a song, just repeat the above process to unprotect the song.

Demo Songs

New VS workstations are shipped with pre-recorded demo songs. If you want to delete the demo songs, you'll have to unprotect them before you can delete them.
