Record Monitor Selection

 <  Day Day Up  >

Very often there is some form of recording happening as part of the mix process. The VS-2480 has two methods of monitoring recording tracks, Auto and Source. This selection is made on page 1 of the UTILITY PLAY/REC PARAMETER dialog box.

When the Record monitor is set to Auto, and the VS-2480 is placed into Play mode, the VS-2480 plays the audio, if any, that already exists on any track that is armed to record. When the VS-2480 switches from Play to Record, it automatically switches so you can you hear the audio being sent to the recording track. You can selectively monitor the source audio by pressing the TRACK STATUS button of the desired track, but this gets reset every time the VS-2480 goes back into Play mode. This mode is useful when a performer is punching in and wishes to hear what he has played up until the punch-in point.

When the Record monitor is set to Source, the VS-2480 always presents the audio being sent to the recording channel to the Mix bus. This mode is best for performing track bouncing or submixing operations. Track Mixer outputs that are routed to recording channels are not audible if the recording channel's track status is set to Play.
