GoLive does an amazing job of managing files in a Web site, and it's also very adept at managing external references such as email and Web site addresses. To add an external reference to your site, make sure the External tab is active. Then click the Create New Address or Create New URL icons in the toolbar or drag the Address or URL objects from the Site section of the Objects palette. Customize the external reference in the Inspector so that it looks something like Figure 26. Figure 26. Edit external references in the Inspector palette.
To apply an external reference as a hyperlink in a page, just drag it from the Site window onto a selected image or text in a Web page in GoLive's Layout Editor. (See Tip 42 for more information on linking.) If you have an existing site in GoLive and you want to see what email addresses and external URLs are hyperlinked throughout the site, choose Site > Update > Add Used > External Links. All the detected references are added to the External tab of the Site window where you can organize and update them. To update every instance of an email address throughout a site, just select it in the External tab and make the change in the Inspector. For example, if somebody in your organization gets a promotion, you can change his email address from peewee@company.com to bigshot@company.com in one central location instead of in each instance. |
