Chapter ELEVEN. Publishing Your SiteYou've learned a lot, put in a lot of hard work, and you're eager to share your Web site with the world. Before you upload your site to a Web server, of course, you need to purchase a domain name and establish a hosting account if you haven't done so already. There are plenty of domain registrars, but www.godaddy.com and www.dotster.com are two of our favorites, and their prices are great. Whomever you choose as your registrar, make sure the company is approved at www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html. The next step is to find a hosting provider who can give you the service and support you need at a price you can afford. GoLive uses standard Internet protocols such as FTP and WebDAV, so you don't have to worry about finding a special company to host your GoLive sites. If you're looking for a particularly GoLive-savvy hosting company, we recommend you check out www.golivehost.com or www.mediatemple.net. When you've got those two tasks squared away, it's time to upload! The first few tips in this chapter cover basic settings and uploads, but we quickly advance to some really cool power tips. |
