TIP 96: Customizing PDF Preferences

If you use the PDF Preview frequently to convert Web pages to PDF, you might find yourself adjusting the same settings over and over again. To save yourself time and ensure consistent quality, you can change the application preferences for how PDF files are created. Select GoLive > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (Windows) and choose the Adobe PDF section on the left side. Click the triangle (Mac) or the plus sign (Windows) next to the Adobe PDF item to reveal all the categories of related preferences (Figure 96).

Figure 96. Adjust these preferences to customize how GoLive converts and opens PDF files.

Customize the settings here, and they will affect all new PDF files you create and open with GoLive. The most common settings you should adjust are at the top and include the default PDF Preset used for conversion, the default page size, and whether or not to optimize for Fast Web View (like streaming PDF from a Web server).

You can also control the initial zoom view and display settings for any PDF you open with GoLive. Notice the ability to smooth text, line art, and images, but remember that this only affects how the file is viewed in GoLive and doesn't actually change the PDF.
