About the Author

Steven Pratschner is a Program Manager on the .NET Compact Framework team at Microsoft. Before joining the .NET Compact Framework team, Steven worked on the CLR for the full .NET Framework for several years. During that time, Steven worked on various features of the CLR, including the versioning system, hosting, and security. Steven has written articles and presented at numerous conferences on a variety of topics related to .NET Framework programming.

Before coming to Microsoft, Steven worked as a software developer for a number of small software companies. He started writing software for the Microsoft platform back when OS/2 and Windows 3.0 were becoming popular. Steven has computer science degrees from North Dakota State University and Santa Clara University.

Steven has twin 10-year-old daughters with whom he loves to spend time whenever he can. He also recently married his high school sweetheart on a beach in Hawaii. Steven's hobbies include sailing his boat on Puget Sound and reading books about U.S. history.
