Summary and Other Resources

The goal of this Short Cut was to provide step-by-step procedures that can be followed for the creation of a certificate server, create the appropriate templates and certificates for users, and have certificates automatically issued to users and computers so that a certificate-based encryption system can be easily implemented in an environment.

This Short Cut does not cover the architecture, design, or implementation of certificates in an enterprise environment, nor does it take into account the scalability of global certificate issuance, management, and administration. Now that you know how to create and issue certificates, you can now refer to guides that do reference specific design criteria and distribution methods appropriate for enterprise deploymentshopefully now with a better understanding of how certificate-based encryption, autoenrollment of certificates, and group policybased security management relative to encryption works.
