Section 1.12. StartNetwork: All Versions

1.12. Start Network: All Versions

We've come a long way since the My Network Places icon that once graced every Windows desktop.

Now, just choosing Start Network opens a single, ready-to-use window containing icons of all nearby computers that are on the same network, ready to open and browse for files and folders your comrades have decided to share with you. (Its the equivalent of the View Workgroup Computers command in Windows XP.)

Details on networking in Vista are in Chapters 23, 24, 25, and 26.
