Sending a Movie to iDVD

If you have a project containing both video and audio you'd like to burn to a DVD disc, you can send it to iDVD. When you send a project to iDVD, no compression is applied to the project, because in most cases, you'll want to make those compression changes in iDVD. GarageBand projects you send to iDVD can use the chapter markers in the project to move to different parts of the movie. URLs and URL titles will not appear in the finished DVD project. Let's send the 9-4 Movie Score final project to iDVD.

1.

Open the project 9-4 Movie Score final from the Lesson_09 folder.

This project includes a Video Track, Video Sound track, chapter title markers, music, and sound effects.

2.

Choose Share > Send Movie to iDVD.

You'll see progress windows for creating the mixdown and exporting the video.

When the export is complete, iDVD will automatically launch, and your project will be included in the selected iDVD theme.

3.

Click the Play button to play the template.

A menu opens named after your project.

4.

On the menu, click the Play Movie button to play your movie project.

5.

Click the Next Chapter button on the iDVD onscreen remote to jump to the next chapter marker.

6.

Quit iDVD. Click Don't Save if you are finished with this example. Click Save if you want to come back and explore this project in iDVD later.

Once the project is in iDVD, you can change the template, modify the buttons, add images to drop zones, and finish any changes you'd like to make to the project before burning the finished DVD disk.
