Creating an Opening Title

To finish up the project and create the full "movie credits" effect, we'll create a couple of quick additional titles using the Premiere Elements Titler. The first is an opening title for our movie, which we'll call "The Crazy Caper." We'll create the title using a particularly '60s-looking font called Chick, created by Ben Balvanz. We'll add a gradient fill to the font for added grooviness.

Add a '60s-Style Opening Title

Press the HOME key on your keyboard to return the CTI to the beginning of the Timeline tracks.

Click the Add Text button on the Monitor panel.

Change the font to Chick.

Change the font size to 72.

Click the Center Text button to change the alignment to center-aligned.

Type the crazy caper to replace the Add Text text (you may need drag your mouse across the Add Text text first to select it).

Tip

Be sure to press the ENTER key on your keyboard after crazy and before caper.

Click the Vertical Center button.

Click the Horizontal Center button.

Click the Color Properties button.

On the Color Properties dialog box, select Linear Gradient from the Gradient drop down menu.

Click the first color button.

Set the first color to R: 50, G: 250, B: 200.

Click the second color button.

Set the second color to R: 200, G: 250, B: 50.

Click OK.

Add a Transition to the Opening Title

On the Timeline, select the end (tail) of the Title 04 opening title clip and drag it until it meets the Title 01 clip on the Video 2 track, as shown in the illustration.

Click the Effects and Transitions button on the Media panel to switch to the Effects and Transitions view.

In the Effects and Transitions view, type random blocks in the text box.

Drag the Random Blocks transition and drop it onto the front (head) of the Title 04 clip on the Video 2 track on the Timeline.

Select the Random Blocks transition again, and drag and drop it this time onto the tail (end) of the Title 04 title clip.

Tip

To apply the transition to the end of the opening title clip, hold down the CTRL key on your key board.

Finally, in the Properties panel for the Title 04 clip, select the triangle next to Opacity and then click the Fade Out button.
