Creating the Opening Text

At the beginning of every episode of 24, Jack Bauer, the series' protagonist, sets the stage in a very simple way: he tells you the time of day. The premise of the series is that a story will be told in twenty-four consecutive 1-hour episodes, each in relative realtime. So, for each episode, Jack intones something along the lines of, "The following takes place between the hours of 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM." We'll use that text to create a simple title.

Create Your Opening Text

Click the Add Text button on the Monitor panel.

Select Arial Narrow as the font.

Set the font size to 22.

Click the Center Text button to center the text.

Make the text bold by clicking the Make Text Bold button.

Type (in all caps): THE FOLLOWING TAKES PLACE BETWEEN 8:00 AM AND 9:00 AM.

Important

When you type, your new text should replace the default Add Text in the text box on the screen. If not, select Add Text with your mouse and then start typing.

Click the Color Properties button on the toolbar.

Set the text to a deep golden yellow color:

  • R: 240

  • G: 186

  • B: 24

Click OK to apply these settings and close the Color Properties dialog box.

Center the text up and down by clicking the Vertical Center button.

Center the text left to right by clicking the Horizontal Center button.
