Summary

This chapter began with a description of ATM end system addressing and then moved on to an explanation of ITU-T-compliant ATM signaling for SVC creation and deletion. Leveraging this signaling explanation, call signaling through a PNNI network was dissected. Next, PNNI routing was discussed. That section first defined the routing commonalities between flat and hierarchical PNNI networks and then went on to explain the distribution of routing information in both network types. A discussion of interconnecting two PNNI networks using IISP or AINI concluded this chapter.
