A caching-only DNS server is much simpler to set up and contains no zone data files, except for the root domain file ” named.ca (which should be manually copied to the server during the initial configuration) ”and the loopback reverse resolution file. The local server is always the master for this conceptual zone. A typical caching-only configuration file, /etc/named.conf , is shown here: directory "/var/named"; cache named.ca master 0.0.127.in-addr.arpa named.local; Note that the named.ca root domain file should be manually copied from the primary DNS server during the initial configuration. |
