Inserting Dates and Page Numbers In addition to special characters , you can insert the date and time at the cursor's current position. To do this, select Insert, Date and Time and then click the date and time format from Word's selection list. If you click the Update Automatically option, Word constantly updates the date and time. If you leave the Update Automatically option unchecked, Word maintains the original date and time in the document. | Press Shift+Alt+D to insert the date at the cursor's location. | If you want Word to insert page numbers at the top or bottom of the document's printed pages, select Insert, Page Numbers.
