To open the Launchpad, select Crystal Launchpad from the Crystal Enterprise program group. If you have not installed any Enterprise components on your computer, a CE program group won t exist. Simply reach the Launchpad by pointing your browser to
http://< web server >/crystal/enterprise10
where < web server > is the name of the web server where CE is installed. The Launchpad will appear in your web browser.
On the Launchpad, you ll find links to many useful pages, including online documentation and tools that reside with Crystal Enterprise; Internet web sites for support, tools, and samples; and the primary end- user component of Crystal Enterprise: the Web Desktop. Also available is the Crystal Offline Viewer tool, which, after a one-time setup, allows you to view reports that have been downloaded to your workstation, even when your connection to your web or network server is unavailable. You may also find a link to the CE Add-In for Excel. This link will download an add-in product that closely integrates Excel with certain CE features.
Navigating the Launchpad consists entirely of clicking the item you want to see. If the link is unavailable, or you don t have security access for it, you ll receive a descriptive message stating this.
Note | Crystal Enterprise 10 actually includes two launchpads: The User Launchpad (just discussed), and the Administrative Launchpad. The Administrative Launchpad can be navigated to from the User Launchpad, if necessary. Complete discussions of administrative features are contained in Chapter 26. |
