Exercises

  1. Reopen your project from the previous chapter. If you skipped those exercises, there’s a completed version of this project (MyProject_ch12.zip) in this chapter’s media folder that you can import.

  2. Produce your project as a Flash SWF file using the One Video with PIP and TOC template. Select Use JPEG Compression at 80%. Choose whatever controller bar you think looks best.

  3. View a 30-second sample of your video using the Preview feature. Does everything look and behave as expected?

  4. Add a preload movie to your video, using one of the sample preloaders located in this chapter’s media folder. While still on the Controls tab, add some appropriate text to the About box.

  5. Add a watermark to your video. You can use either the default watermark or the image from book watermark.png image supplied to you in this chapter’s media folder. Adjust the size, position, and formatting of the watermark to your liking.

  6. If you created a quiz for this video, set up the video to report the results to your e-mail address.

  7. On the Produce Video screen, check Upload video to Screencast.com, set up a trial account, and once production is complete, finish your upload to view it online. Using the service, send an invitation to someone else to view your work.

  8. After producing your first video, go back and produce it again (or at least preview) using FLV. How does the quality and file size compare? Try a few other video formats.

  9. Try producing the video into a mobile format (iPod, MP3). What challenges would you face in adapting this content for mobile devices?
