Modifying an Editable Tag Attribute

The ability to create editable tag attributes makes the possibilities for creating templates much greater. You can potentially make a wide variety of tag attributes editable, which gives you a great deal of control over the individual documents created from your original template. Attributes such as background color, alignment, and size can increase the usefulness and flexibility of your template-based documents.

1.

Open the Katchie.html document and choose Modify > Template Properties.

The Template Properties dialog box opens, and the bgcolor tag attribute that you made editable in the previous exercise now appears in the Name list. You can see in the Value column that the default setting for this attribute is #FFFFFF.

2.

Select the bgcolor attribute.

Options for editing the tag appear below the list. In this case, you are provided with a text field in which you can change the color.

3.

Replace #FFFFFF in the bgcolor text field with #FFFFCC and then click OK to close the dialog box.

The color of the optional table is now changed to light yellow.

You can save and close the Katchie.html file.

Note

Knowing HTML helps you to make the most of editable tag attributes. If you don't know HTML, using the Reference panel helps you understand the different tags and the functions of their attributes. Defining the attribute before you choose to make it editable also helps. If you do know HTML, you can make use of a very powerful template feature.
