The Windows Media format is very popular for producing files to upload to Web sites or for sharing with other users of the Windows operating system. Typically, when produced for the same target, Windows Media produces larger resolution video (like 320x240 rather than 160x120) that looks better than QuickTime. Recently, Microsoft released Macintosh players so even Macintosh owners can play Windows Media files. For this reason, Windows Media is my "go-to" compression technology for Broadband, Dial-up, and Wireless applications. |
