Key Points


  • On the Outline tab, you can quickly enter the text of a presentation, demoting slides to bullet points and promoting bullet points to slides as necessary.

  • You can collapse and expand a presentation s outline to see as much or a little detail as you want.

  • You can easily edit text on the Outline tab. If you make a mistake, you can reverse an editing action by clicking the Undo button. You can click the Redo button to restore the undone action.

  • You can rearrange the text on slides and the slides themselves by using the Move Up and Move Down buttons on the Outlining toolbar, or by dragging selected text or slides to the desired location.

  • You can apply formatting to selected text on the Outline tab and see the results in the Slide pane. To format text, you can use the buttons on the Formatting toolbar.

  • You can insert text created in other programs into the Outline tab. Acceptable formats include Word format ( .doc ), Rich Text Format ( .rtf ), and plain text ( .txt ).

  • You can export a presentation outline or speaker notes directly from PowerPoint directly to Word. You can also save a presentation in various formats so that it can be used in other programs.
