Rearranging a Presentation


 Microsoft Office Specialist     After you have created several slides, whether by adding them and entering text or by inserting them from another presentation, you might need to rearrange the order of your slides to make them most effectively communicate your message. Rearranging a presentation is best done in Slide Sorter view, where you can drag slides from one location to another.

In this exercise, you ll rearrange slides in Slide Sorter view.

USE the OrderSlides presentation in the practice file folder for this topic. This practice file is located in the My Documents\Microsoft Press\PowerPoint 2003 SBS\WorkingSlide\Rearranging folder and can also be accessed by clicking Start/All Programs/Microsoft Press/PowerPoint 2003 Step by Step .

OPEN the OrderSlides presentation.

  1. In the lower-left corner of the Outline/Slides pane, click the Slide Sorter View button.

    PowerPoint displays the presentation as a set of thumbnails and opens the Slide Sorter toolbar above the presentation window.

  2. Drag Slide 4 ( Summary ) to the empty space after Slide 7 ( Maintenance ).

    When you release the mouse button, Slide 4 moves to its new position, and PowerPoint repositions and renumbers the other slides in the presentation.

    Tip  

    In Slide Sorter view, you can also move slides from one open presentation to another. Open the presentations, switch to Slide Sorter view in each presentation window, and click Arrange All on the Window menu. Then drag the slides from one presentation window to another.

  3. Drag Slide 5 ( Resources for Help ) between Slides 6 and 7.

  4. Double-click Slide 2.

    PowerPoint returns to the previous view ”in this case, Normal view ”with Slide 2 active.

  5. On the Standard toolbar, click the Save button to save the presentation.

CLOSE the OrderSlides presentation.
