This allows users to access Citrix NFuse sites where they receive the same applications that would be provided by a full Program Neighborhood client. The users can then launch their applications using either an ActiveX-, Netscape Plug-In-, or Java-based ICA client.

Web ICA client

Web ICA clients are necessary to run published applications via the Internet. The ICA Web client is an add-in to Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator or Communicator. The Internet Explorer version uses Active X Control and the Navigator version uses the Netscape Plug-in.

A network using high-speed long-distance common-carrier circuits or satellites to cover a large geographic area.

Win16 ICA client

The Win16 ICA client is for use on older operating systems and does not support Program Neighborhood. Win16 clients use Remote Application Manager and must configure specific access to published applications.

Win32 ICA client

The Win32 ICA Web client allows connections to applications through an NFuse server using a Web browser. The Win32 ICA client is used for newer operating systems and provides the Citrix Program Neighborhood, which allows users to browse published applications within the server farm. Windows CE ICA clients are available through Citrix OEM partners.

This includes encryption levels of 40-, 56-, or 128-bit. Published applications and Citrix sessions can require a specific encryption level from the client. If encryption is not set, the client will not be able to connect. The encryption requirement can be set on either the application, or applied to an entire connection. The choices of Basic, 40-, 56-, 128-bit (Logon Only), or 128-bit are available.

WinCE ICA client

The Windows CE client is required for many handheld and Windows Terminal devices. Before installing the client, make sure you have the correct client for the device you will run it on.

Wireless LANs

These are becoming more prevalent now with the 802.11b standard equipment being available to home users as well as corporations. Many companies are installing wireless access points throughout their offices to provide easy access to corporate data as employees move about the building conferring with other staff on various projects. Conference rooms are a common place to find wireless connectivity because it provides LAN access to everyone in the room without the hassle of wires.
