Error-correcting code memory (ECC RAM)

ECC memory includes special circuitry that tests for the accuracy of data as it passes through memory and corrects any errors it finds.

Error events

These indicate more serious conditions and logged when there is a failure such as a service failing to start, a duplicate IP address, a malfunctioning hardware device or system crash. Error events are represented by red circles with white Xs through them.

Event Viewer

This is the one of the first tools to use for troubleshooting and monitoring your system. It is at the front end and used to view the event logs where information is recorded about the computer and applications. The Event viewer is installed by default and located under Administrative Tools on both operating systems, and the logs themselves are stored in the %systemroot%\system32\config folder. With the Event Viewer, you can monitor the events that take place on your systems and detect activities that may require your attention. Analyzing these events can help you resolve issues related to security, resource allocation and system problems.

Explicit users

These are by definition normal user accounts and can be domain accounts or local user accounts if no domain is present. You should always use explicit users when security is important. Explicit users will use their normal logon credentials when connecting to an application set or custom connection, and unlike anonymous accounts, their user profile information will be saved when the explicit user logs off.
