Summary

[ LiB ]

In this chapter, you learned about the IDS MC architecture and how it uses Common Services for VMS to communicate with the Sybase configuration database. You learned about the directories and processes that provide the IDS MC with its functionality and then reviewed the installation steps and requirements for both Windows and Solaris platforms. Then, you saw how to access the IDS MC from CiscoWorks 2000 and how to navigate the interface with the five tab sheets. We then went through device configuration for both sensor devices and sensor groups, using the Device tab sheet. We moved on to the Configuration tab sheet, where you learned how to set communications protocol settings and IP logging properties. Finally, we went through the IDS MC workflow to see how you generate, approve, and deploy configuration files to sensors and sensor groups.
