Common Cross-Provider Concerns

About the Author

This is David Sceppa's second book for Microsoft Press. In 2000, he wrote Programming ADO. There are rumors that he'll write a third book and then take time off before writing the first three books in the saga.

David currently works as a tester on the Visual Basic .NET team, working with the data access features in the product. He's a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer, a speaker at technical conferences, and a frequent contributor to the public ADO.NET newsgroup at microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.adonet.

After speaking at a recent SQL Server conference in Sydney, Australia, David finally got the chance to see a couple Australian Rules Football matches at the prestigious Melbourne Cricket Grounds.

Shortly before Mario Lemieux and Michael Jordan returned to their respective sports, there was a less heralded return in the sporting world. After a long hiatus, David Sceppa returned to the indoor soccer hotbed of Redmond, Washington. While he may have lost a step from his heyday, David proved to be a crafty veteran defender. Surprisingly, the layoff did not affect David's skills on offense where he was still described as a "liability" on most scouting reports. Under the tutelage of player/coach Psycho Steve DuMosch, the team went deep into the playoffs.

David is still amazed that the New England Patriots completed their miracle season with a Super Bowl win and admits to getting a little misty-eyed upon seeing Ray Bourque finally raise the Stanley Cup over his head.
