Tools

This appendix describes the three tools included on the book's companion CD that I created to help developers build data access applications: the ADO.NET Ad Hoc Query Tool, the ADO.NET DataAdapter Builder, and the ADO.NET Navigation Control.

Each tool is a work in progress. In the coming months, I'll post periodic updates to add features and fix bugs I might have missed. You can download these updates at the URL listed in the Readme file on the companion CD.

As the saying goes, you can't please all of the people all of the time. With that in mind, I've included the source code for each tool on the companion CD. The Ad Hoc Query Tool and the DataAdapter Builder are both written in Microsoft Visual Basic .NET. The CD includes source code for the Navigation Control in both Visual Basic .NET and Visual C# .NET.

Please note that these tools are not supported, nor are they intended for distribution. (See the Microsoft License Agreement at the end of this book for more gory legal details.) Use these tools at your own risk.
